Single storyteller – two names
Mercer World is the work of a single storyteller writing under two names.
Hale Mercer and M.J. Mercer exist to explore different facets of the same universe—and different ways of telling its stories.
Under the name Hale Mercer, the focus is on supernatural thrillers and Southern Gothic horror: stories shaped by hidden histories, moral ambiguity, and the uneasy boundary between faith and corruption. These novels often unfold as investigations—into crimes, conspiracies, or truths that were never meant to surface.
The M.J. Mercer name explores that same mythology through a darker, more romantic lens. These stories center on power, desire, and consequence—where love can be a weapon, loyalty carries a cost, and ancient bloodlines shape the fate of the living.
Though the tone and genre shift between names, the mythology does not. Both draw from a shared timeline, recurring symbols, and a long-running cosmic struggle that spans centuries and continents.
The separation of pen names is intentional. It allows each body of work to speak clearly to its audience—while rewarding readers who move between them with deeper connections, hidden patterns, and echoes that reveal themselves over time.
Every story stands on its own. Together, they form Mercer World.
The creator behind Mercer World has spent a career immersed in storytelling across multiple mediums, with a long-standing fascination with myth, history, and the stories we tell to justify the things we believe. Mercer World grew from that fascination—and continues to expand, one story at a time.
